Program Description:
Students will be introduced to a caring and compassionate environment. They will feel comfortable and will understand that school is a place to learn and have fun. Children will be able to write their letters, understand their numbers, and use their small and large motor skills to create art and run, jump, and play.
Religion: Students will learn that God made things. Students will learn various prayers and songs. They will be introduced to many special religious holidays and will participate in school masses and prayer services.
Language Arts/Reading: Students will be able to print letters and identify their sounds. They will be introduced to sight words and they will participate in echo reading and guided reading activities. Students will also be reading stories and exploring literature.
Mathematics: Students will be introduced to various mathematical concepts such as addition, patterns, and problem solving. Students will explore shapes, money, time, and numbers.
Social Studies: Students will learn that social studies is the study of people, places, and things. We will be introduced to important people throughout the year by studying different holidays.
Science: Students will discover that science involves people, plants, and animals. Students will participate in various experiments. For example, we will grow popcorn, we will make snow, we will dissect an owl pellet, and we will explore liquids, solids, and gas.
