Curriculum Overview

Religion:

We use the Sadlier series. We talk about Jesus' Mission and the Kingdom of God and about bringing the Kingdom of God to all by our words and actions. We also have a strong focus on the seven Sacraments, and at the end of the year we have Family Life. During the year we participate in and at times lead prayer services and liturgies. We are also altar servers.

We use Course 1 of the McDougal-Littell Middle School Math. We focus on exponents and powers, order of operations, variable expressions, graphs, measurement, coordinates, decimal operations, number patterns, fraction operations, ratios, proportions, percent, geometric figures, integers, and probability.

We use the Houghton Mifflin Explore text, learning reading strategies and skills. We also read novels if time permits. We have book reports and at-home reading every month. Sometimes we perform a play. We have vocabulary study using the Worldly Wise series, I also enjoy reading to the class.

We use the Voyages in English book for grammar study. We review all parts of speech. New terminology is learned. We learn to write stories and essays in an organized and interesting fashion.
