A Tradition of Academic Excellence

Academic excellence is one of the hallmarks of the SCL experience. Each year, we review our curriculum to identify improvements and set academic goals so that we can achieve even greater things.

Teachers work as a team, and the curriculum is aligned so that students at each grade level are prepared to excel at the next level.

Academic Achievements

We are proud of our students’ academic achievements. Each student takes the Terra Nova tests, a nationally recognized series of standardized tests that include both multiple-choice and free response format. The Terra Nova tests measure classroom performance in reading, language arts, and mathematics. 

Additionally, in mathematics, all grades are doing a curriculum one grade level above their current grade.  For example, all 4th graders are following a 5th grade math curriculum; kindergarteners are following a 1st grade curriculum, etc.

SCL students’ Terra Nova scores typically far exceed the national average, a testament to their experience at SCL.
